Eurofighter

German and Polish Schalke 04 fans created this special, cross-border fan club, located in Frankfurt/Oder, in 1997. The Eurofighters are an exception in the German fan scene and at the same time, the fan club farthest to the East for the blue-white footballers from the Ruhr area. Aside from football, the club’s main activity is organizing German-Polish youth exchanges. Exchanges are made with Polish fans in Lech Poznan, and workshops are organized for students interested in football. Among the issues dealt with are violence and racism in sport, the increasing commericialization of football, and the increasingly dominant role played by media in football. In addition, the Eurofighters print the bilingual youth magazine, »Grenzenlos – BEZ GRANIC« (»Without borders«) and produce the European online youth magazine, »POP-UP«, with their parters in Poland, Spain and Ireland.
